What is RoboModo?

RoboModo is a one-of-a-kind, online program on robotics and programming for school children. The JumpStart level is suitable for children aged 8-12 years, a stepping stone into the world of robotics, which has seen a surge in a number of applications both in households and industries. Once signed up for the program, your child will receive an exclusive robotic kit, which is sourced from one of the fastest growing STEM kit international companies. The online program and each of the modules are specially designed to fuel young minds by teaching them the concept of robotics, introducing them to various components of a robot and to sensor technologies, and helping them to program the kit to create a functional robot. Ultimately, this course provides real-world knowledge of how robotics are being used in our day-to-day lives and by the end of this program, your child would have built his own robot and programmed it to perform certain actions.

Who can sign up? What is the minimum age requirement for taking this course?

The RoboModo Jumpstart course is meant for 8-12 yrs children.

Is there a pre-requisite for this course?

There is no pre-requisite for this course as this is a beginners course.

I have 2 children. How do I register both of them?

Our system allows registering only one child at a time. You can enroll each one of them separately. However, please note every time you enroll, you have to use a unique email id.


My son is younger than 8 yrs old. Can I register?

Please note that this course is designed for children in the age group 8 to 12 yrs keeping in mind their knowledge of certain science and mathematical concepts.

If your child is less than 8 yrs, some of the concepts may be difficult. So we suggest you use your discretion.


What kit will I get?

When you enroll into RoboModo: Jumpstart program, you will receive a Makeblock mBot 2.4G model. This kit will reach you approximately one week after enrolling in the program.


Will the kit be of good quality?

mBot comes in a well-packed cardboard box which can be kept for storage. The mBot frame is made from powder-coated metal. It feels solid and is of very high quality.


Is there a warranty?

If something is broken will I get a replacement?

If something is not working, will I get a support?

Yes, you can get support from Makeblock if your issue is concerning the kit. If the issue is concerning the course material or the videos, please write to contact@heymodo.com


When will I get the kit?

After enrolment, it will take around 10 working, days to receive the kit.

What is the course fee?

The regular fee for the Course is Rs.12,500/- which includes the mBot Robotic Kit.


Can I download videos for offline viewing?

No, you will not be able to download the videos for offline viewing.


How does this online class work?

You will have an instructor, a robot and 2 students who are part of the online course. The lessons are a combination of theory and activities.


Can I take this course at my own pace?

Yes, you can. At a minimum, you will be given a gap of 2 days between modules.


What work is involved in taking the class online?

No prerequisite. No pre-work. However, we encourage students to review topics and read more to gain additional knowledge around the topics taught.


Would online learning be a challenge for me?

No. Increasingly world over, children and adults are moving over to online learning – which liberates them from having to travel to a destination, accepting low tutoring standards that may be the case, or even worse, having to match the pace and quality of class gathering.


How much time will I need to commit to this online course?

For each module, all you need is 40 mins. However, you can spend additional amount of time, according to your convenience, to research and learn about the robotics concepts or program additional activities with the bot.


What is the duration of the course?

The course has 25 modules. Each module is taken for around 30-40 mins. Between two modules, there are 2 days gap that is already programmed in the course. If you are diligent, you can complete the course in 50 days.


What is the minimum time limit for taking the next module?

Minimum 2 days. The course is pre-programmed to give ample space between modules, so the student takes time to research and understand the topics or activities.


Can I skip the modules?

No, you will not be able to skip any module. Also, you need to complete quizzes (mandatory) after every module to progress to the next module.


Can I repeat the same module more than once?

Yes you can, however, after you have completed the course, the course videos will be made available only for 2 more weeks. After which the videos will not be accessible to you.


Do we have assignments?

No assignments.


How can I upload videos of my Project on MODO?

You can visit ‘CommunityModo’ page and under specific topic (module name) you can post your video for everyone to see and comment.


How long will my course be active?

After the completion of the course, the course videos will be available for 2 weeks. After which the videos will not be accessible to you.


Can I extend my course after it expires?

No. However, you can write to us for any specific help, and we will look into this on a case-to-case basis.


Can the assessment be taken more than once?

Yes, you can take the assessment quizzes any number of time, till you secure 100% (all right answers) for you to move forward to the next module.


Technical Requirements:

Do I have to own a Computer to take this course?

Yes, you will require a desktop computer or a laptop to take the course.


What are the technical requirements for this course?

You will require a Windows or Apple desktop or laptop, running latest OS version. You will also require an internet connection to access the course.

If I join this session, will it affect my academics?

Ideally, it should not. This is not an alternative to your studies, not a distraction. When used well, this will help you to ace your science studies.


How do I know if I am making progress?

At heymodo.com website, use your course login to go to profile settings. Under this settings, it shows in greater detail about the course completion, etc.


Do I have to take tests as part of this course?

No.


Is there any minimal marks to score to pass the tests?

Yes, you will have to secure 100% points, i.e. you will have to get all answers right to move to the next module. However, you can take the quiz multiple times.


Can I share my progress with my friends?

You can share with your friends as a report, not an online view. We sincerely advise not to share your login and password to any of your friends.


What is the CommunityModo?

CommunityModo is an online forum for like-minded students, teachers and STEM specialists. You can participate to view topics related to modules, Q&As, posts from other students on their activities, etc. This is a great platform to share and learn.


How can I participate in the forum?

You can use the issued login and password to access the CommunityModo from heymodo.com website.


Can I meet the instructors if I have doubts?

No. We have designed the course to be delivered completely online. However, you can reach out to Modo’s tutors and support staff through chat, telephone and email.


Is there any incentive if I recommend my friends to this program?

Yes, you can refer your friends to the course, and win a surprise gift.


Can I quickly complete the course in two weeks?

No, the course is designed to give space between modules for you to fully grasp the topics you learned and also to research online to learn more.


Can I discuss this with my teachers in School?

Yes sure. However, Modo’s courses are not a replacement for school education, nor a distraction.

Can I buy the kit separately?

Modo Edulabs is not a re-seller or a distributor of robotic kits. Hence, we do not exclusively sell the kits.


Why this kit?

After extensive research, the specialist team in Modo Edulabs identified the Makeblock mBot 2.4G kit as more suitable for the designed curriculum and for the targeted age group 8-12 years. However, we are constantly researching many more options to bring the best available kits to our students who are enrolling for our courses.
